Cockpit Privacy Policy

Cockpit processes system readings, monitoring history and preferences on your Mac. Widgets read selected summaries from a local app group shared with Cockpit. The optional sensor companion reads temperatures, fan speeds, power, GPU usage, CPU frequency, storage health, top processes (names, process IDs, CPU usage, memory footprint, disk activity, and energy impact), and connected accessory names and battery levels. It sends readings to Cockpit over a local connection. Companion update checks contact cockpit.sinuk.dev for update information and installer downloads; sensor and process readings are not sent to the website. Top process readings and accessory names and battery levels stay in memory.

If you grant location access, Cockpit uses it to display the connected Wi-Fi network name and access point details. Bluetooth access lets Cockpit display supported accessories and their battery levels. You can manage these permissions in System Settings.

Network connectivity checks contact the configured host to check reachability. The default ping host is 1.1.1.1. If you switch to HTTP checks, the default is google.com. The host receives the connection details needed to respond. Cockpit stores the results locally. You can turn off the checks by clearing the host in Network settings.

When you open the Network panel, Cockpit automatically asks ipify for the public IP address of your connection. Cockpit caches the result only in memory.

You can export your settings to a location you select. Cockpit has no account or analytics service.

If you grant Calendar access, Cockpit reads events on your Mac to display the Clock agenda. Cockpit does not edit, store or transmit your calendar events.
